Peter I. Slow

Peter is a Lead Network Engineer with extensive experience in voice, routing protocols, and the accompanying areas of network design and implementation. An expert at troubleshooting, Peter also has highly developed customer interaction and soft skills. Since his initial achievement of obtaining a CCIE certification at the young age of nineteen, he has gone on to place himself into an even smaller group of about 300 individuals worldwide possessing CCIE level certifications in both Voice and Routing & Switching tracks.

Peter spent three years on the backbone of Cisco Unified Communications Infrastructure TAC team in Research Triangle Park, NC. While at Cisco, Peter was focused on Communications Manager (CallManager) and authored a Networkers Presentation in his areas of expertise. His areas of expertise include Media, Media Resources (Conferencing, Transcoding, MTPs, and Music on Hold), SIP, and H.323. Peter possesses seasoned UNIX (BSD) and LINUX engineering and system administration skills.

  • Successfully planned and guided the implementation of a world - wide Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS - B) virtualization infrastructure.
  • Helped Cisco implement world - first CUCM Megacluster with UC on UCS and developed new implementation technique for virtualization.
  • Developed virtualization and cutover steps to successfully migrate existing voice infrastructure into the virtualized infrastructure.
  • Provided problem escalation and resolution for complex technical issues in timeframes not achievable through standard technical support channels.
  • Migrated about 90K phones supported by about 52 call processing servers (not/incl. voicemail etc.,) over datacenters on three continents.

  • Acted as an advisor for network design and deployment for a network with over one thousand networking devices.
  • Devised and executed an extremely detailed plan to move servers off core switches, power down the switches, and move them to a new NOC without creating network downtime.
  • Worked with multiple customers to assist with network operations and development.
